Rabindra Sangeet Shabdakosh
Vocabulary used in Rabindra Sangeet for almost two and half thousand songs written by Rabindranath Tagore is huge and diverse as well. Each word used is a product of his glorious philosophic idea and poetic excellence. Matching words are coined by Rabindranath in order to express in the exact way he would have wanted and that too within a musical framework. To present a thesaurus in this rich volume of vocabulary is our endeavour and which needs to be studied in detail to reproduce the songs with accuracy.
In Bengali, the verb forms have a large number of variations. They change with a person, tense and many other parameters. Variety of adjectives are created by the poet himself following the steps of Sanskrit and they leave stories behind them. How long these complications can be ignored is uncertain, but for the present version of Rabindra-Shabdokosh we have avoided them and hope to use it as a quick reference. Amendments and additions from all corners are welcome.
