Notes: This song was first published in spring, 1939.
Shailaja-ranjan Majumdar, in his book 'Jaatrapother Aanondogaan has written –
... He taught us the song composed in Raag Kaafi, Shashthi Taal, medium speed and with lots of meed [slides]. I prepared the notation and took it with me. He had though afterwards that the students might not take it with ample interest, it may be a bit heavy for them. Hence in order to lessen its impact he had altered both the tune and the metering.
The lyrics too had been altered. 'Udasi meghe' was replaced by 'udbhranto meghe'. The melody was readjusted to fast Kaharwa. I had put up my objection against alteration of the tune, however Gurudev had been in favour of the students and said – 'They would like this tune much.' When given to them they liked the one with faster Kaharwa. He said in their support and in a complaining tone –'I agree with you completely, but he would not listen.'
While listening to the song he proposed to raise the notes further in 'udbhranto meghe'. I had another option – 'It was customary to sing the Antara section twice. So why can't we take the one for the first time and going for the second while repetition! So both the tunes would remain in the history.'
Rabindranath had accepted my suggestion and since then these variations have been incorporated. ...

Meghomallare saara dinomaan. Baaje jharnaro gaan. Mon haarabar aaji bela, patho bhulibaar khela - mono chaay Mono chaay hridayo jarate kaar chirorine.
