Notes: This song, written at Shantiniketan, was first published in 21st July, 1936.
Inspired by Pratima devi, his daughter in law, Rabindranath had converted 'Chitrangada' into a dance-drama merely within a week. It was staged on the New Empire, Kolkata for four consecutive days starting from 9th March, 1936. Jamuna Sen, elder daughter of Nandalal Basu, had enacted the role of ugly Chitrangada. She is quoted by Roma Chakraborty in her book 'Bhora Thaak Smriti-sudhay' –
