Notes: This verse from the Rik-veda was musically presented, particularly for the purpose of service and prayers in Brahmo temples, by Rabindranath Tagore. It was published in 'Visvabharati' in Hindi in 1946.
Translation in Bengali:
এই মন্ত্র দিয়ে সেই মহান পর্জন্যকে (মেঘ) আহ্বান করো, প্রণতি ও স্তুতি করে প্রসন্ন করো - যিনি দাতা, সেই গর্জনকারী বৃষতুল্য, যিনি বনস্পতিতে বীজ বপন করেন [১] তিনি বৃক্ষদের শাসন ও রাক্ষস বধ করেন, বিশ্ব তাঁহার মহান অস্ত্রভয়ে ভীত । যখন পর্জন্য গর্জনপূর্বক দুষ্টদের প্রহার করেন তখন পাপশূন্য মহাপুরুষরাও সেই মহান দেবতার নিকট হইতে পলায়ন করেন । [২] মহারথী যেমন আপন অশ্বদের কশাঘাতে জর্জরিত করেন তেমনি তিনিও বর্ষাদূতদের প্রদর্শন করেন । আকাশ মেঘাচ্ছন্ন করে যখন তিনি গর্জন করেন তখন সিংহগর্জনের মতো শ্রুত হয় [৩] বায়ু প্রবাহিত, বিদ্যুৎ চমকিত, ওষধি অঙ্কুরিত, পৃথিবী ধীরে ধীরে স্বর্গীয় সম্পদে পূর্ণ । পর্জন্য যখন পৃথিবীতে বীজবপন করেন তখন আবির্ভাব ঘটে প্রকৃতির । [৪] যাঁহার ব্রতসাধনে পৃথিবী অবনত, খুরধারী প্রাণী উৎসাহিত, ওষধি বিবিধ রূপ প্রাপ্ত, সেই পর্জন্য যেন আমাদের কল্যাণ বিতরণ করেন । [৫]
