Notes: This song was composed in the occasion of the marriage of Sudhindranath Tagore, Dwijendranath's son with Chaarubaala on this day. The manuscript of the song bears the words 'On Sudhi's marriage-day', inscribed by the poet himself.
While commenting on a poem written by Christina Rossetti in a letter to Indira Devi written on 12th March1895 (letter no 115, Chhinna patrabali) Rabindranath had criticized the song -
... I like the poem by Christina that you have sent. In the verse the main theme is covered within the first four lines, although, they are followed by some more lines where the thought doesn't seem to propagate any more, it is stifled on the contrary. In quite a few poems the Aasthayee appears to be complete of its own, the Antara is a mare flamboyance � where the poet seems to follow the practice. As it is seen in my 'Baajilo kaahaar bina ...' - the thought has been contained within the first few lines, yet some more lines are added just to follow the rules. As if the poet wishes to continue despite the music has ended.

Baajilo kaahar bina modhur sware Aamar nibhrito nabo jibano-pore Probhatokamolsamo phutilo hridayo mamo Kaar duti nirupamo charono-tare. Jege otthe sabo shobha, sabo maadhuri, Paloke paloke hiya puloke puri. Kotha hote somirano aane nabo jaagorano, Paraner aaborano mochon kore. Laage buke sukhe dukhe koto je byatha, Kemone bujhaye kabo na jaani katha. Aamar baasona aaji tribhubane utthe baaji, Knaape nodi bonoraaji bedonabhare.
