Notes: A collection of poems written by Rabindranath was published in ten volumes by Charuchandra Bandopadhyay from Indian press at Allahabad in the year 1916. He had shared his experience, in his memoir 'Rabirashmi', of listening to the poet singing his own songs while he was busy with the publication. -
... I had published a collection of his songs while I was working with the Indian press. I had experienced him singing his own songs quite a number of times in response to my request at that time. Love songs too are included among them. But the day I went to him with a request of a song 'Bidhi daagor aankhi...' he replied 'Oh, Charu! You seem to make a mess of reputation. Well, close the door. I have already become tinny for you, please do not expose me to others. ...It is hard to assume Rabindranath to express such a pessimistic view in favour of his own creation. This must be a mirthful remark that he used to make in an apparent serious manner.
