... The daytime advanced, it is nearly noon, yet my mind is completely engrossed with an afternoon-song. Not paying heed to the call of duty, although, it was autumn.
Helaphela saarabela Ki khela aapon mone ...
In the room, mattress laid in the corner, I remember, making drawings in a copybook. It wasn't a serious piece of artwork, simply toying with the idea of making an art. The drawing was far from the conceived idea, only the part of the idea that was not revealed was, in fact, the real artwork. On the other hand a golden coloured bewilderment of the autumn afternoon was instilling through the walls of this small room in Calcutta and trying to top it up like a goblet. The sky, the light that seem to encircle those bygone days of my life, I don't know why, are, in fact, those of the autumn. It happens to be my song-maturing autumn just like paddy-maturing autumn it is for a cultivator; It is the autumn of piling up my repertoire of the brightly lit vacations; my picture-making, story-making autumn streaming out from my unbound and causelessly bewildered mind.
