Notes: This song was written on 15th May, 1900, however a melody assigned to it in 1933.
It was written as a poem of ‘Kshonika’ and after a long time while preparing for staging Taaser Desh a tune was composed for it. Shantidev Ghosh in his book ‘Rabindra-sangeet’ had written –
... Gurudev had composed tunes for first three stanzas of the poem ‘Hey Nirupama’ for the purpose of staging it in Kolkata as a song for the Prince. And the tune for the fourth stanza was composed while staging it at Mumbai. ...
The poem has some difference in its primary version and the contemporary one.

Hey nirupoma, Gaane jodi laage biwhalo taan koriyo khama. Jharojharo dhaara aaji utorol, nodi-kule kule utthe kallol, Bone bone gaahe marmarosware nobino paata. Sajalo pabono dishe dishe tole baadologaatha. Hey nirupoma, Chapolata aaji jodi ghote tobe koriyo khama. Elo baroshar saghano dibosh, bonoraaji aaji byakulo bibash, Bokulobithika mukule matto kaanono-pare. Nabokadombo modiro gandhe aakulo kore. Hey nirupoma, Chapolata aaji jodi ghote tobe koriyo khama. Tomari dukhani kaalo aankhi-pare barosharo kaalo chhaayakhaani pare, Ghanokaalo tabo kunchito keshe juthiro maala. Tomar charone nabobaroshar barondaala. Hey nirupoma, Aankhi jodi aaj kore aporaadh, koriyo khama. Hero aakasher dur kone kone bijuli chamoki utthe khane khane, Dhruto koutuke tabo baatayane ki dekhe cheye.
