Pankajkumar Mullick was one of the fortunate people who had enjoyed special privilege from the poet. He had obtained rare permissions for not only altering original melodies but also for tweaking tunes of a number of songs for various reasons. This song is another such example which was sung by him for the feature film 'Adhikaar'. He refers to this song in his book – 'Aamar Jug Aamar Gaan' –
... This song was sung by me and recorded. According to the notation in the second volume of Swarabitan – the second line has to be sung only once, however, I had done it twice, without changing the tune. But while singing the phrase 'aamar byathar' I did alter it slightly not compromising the beauty of its expression. In the second line in the Abhog section I had applied Shuddha dhaivat instead of Komal one. I had explained it with my respectful gesture to the poet that it would not in any way meant to hurt the original feeling of the song. I was lucky enough to be blessed with his permission. ... Bula-da [Prafulla Mahalanabish] had chuckled at me – 'You seem to be enjoying a lot!' Although he had helped me achieve final consent of the poet. ...
