Shailaja-ranjan Majumdar, in his book 'Jaatrapother Aanondogaan has written –
... Preparation for Barsha-mangal was on. Gurudev was eager to know how the rehearsal was going. I took the singers to Uttarayan with me and they sang six old songs to him.
The dining bell had struck, young singers went for lunch. In the meantime I approached Gurudev to say him that young students want new songs and they would not celebrate Barsha-mangal with older ones.
Gurudev was sceptical, said – 'How is it possible to write new songs within such a short time? I have several other assignments.'
He called me next day at eleven o'clock. He handed over a new song to me as I reached him. The song is – 'Ogo snaaotali chhele ...'.
I was about to return with the notation when Gurudev recalled me once again and said – 'Send this notation quickly to 'Probasi'. People of Kolkata will be able to know that when published. A number of them would come here to see the program. It would be difficult to see your back by then.'
I had sent the song to 'Probasi' along with its notation immediately. ...
