Six months after composing this song it was sung at the evening prayer of Maghotsava celebration on 11th Magh, 1317B. Thirteen songs of Rabindranath were sung on this occasion, among which this song is remembered by the famous historian, a close aide of Rabindranath, Dr.Kalidas Nag. He writes in his book ‘Surer Guru Rabindranath O Gurudever Patrabali’ –
… The magic of His voice even at the age of fifty in the year 1911 can never be expressed in writing. It seems like very much live till today – the chaos of the celebration has turned into an absolute silence. The chorus is on – with deep melody of Chhaayanat:
Simar Maajhe Asim Tumi Baajao Aapon Sur
Suddenly Rabindranath from the stage looked at, Dinendranath, the leader of the chorus – they stopped; and Rabindranath kept continuing in His angel-like voice saturated with passion –
Tomay aamay milon hole sakoli jaay khule,
Bishwosaagor dheu khelaye utthe takhon dule.
The entire area impregnated with His solo voice. It still continues to ring in my ears. It is impossible to forget. …
