A program was organised at The Town Hall, Kolkata for a few days starting on 24th December (9th Poush, 1338B) as a part of seventieth birthday celebration of Rabindranath. It was scheduled to end with ‘Kobi-pronam’ – a performance by the artists of Society for Oriental Arts on 4th January 1932 (20th Poush, 1338B). The program had been called off as the news of Mahatma Gandhi’s arrest had arrived. The same program was organised on the next day, 5th January,1932, at Jorasanko. This song was composed and dedicated to those artists.
