... In this country one can very often find melodies to follow lyrics yet seem to command a song, just like a woman in this country to be unequivocally respectful to her husband, although, having absolute authority over the family. It has been experienced quite a number of times while composing tunes. I was murmuring at the time of writing down the piece of verse "Tomar gopon kothati sokhi rekho na mone". It was the melody which took the lyrics to such a height that was never possible had its journey been solo. The secret I am eager to reveal, I thought thence, was, in fact, assimilated within the greenery of the woodlands, impregnated within the white of the full-moon, concealed within the distant blue of the horizon. It appears to be a most intimate mystery of land, water and sky.

Tomar gopan kathati, sokhi rekho na mone. Sudhu aamay, bolo aamay gopone. Ogo dhiromadhurohaasini, bolo dhiromadhuro bhaase- Aami kaane na shunibo go, shunibo praaner shrobane. Jabe gobhiro jaamini, jabe nirabo medini, Jabe suptimagono bihogoniro kusumokaanone, Bolo osrujorito kanthe, bolo kompito smito haase- Bolo madhurobadonobidhuro hridoye sharomonomito nayone.
