Among the people who had accompanied Rabindranath in his tour to Europe in 1926 were – his son Rathindranath, wife of his son Pratima-debi and their adopted daughter Nandini (Pupe) who was only four years. Usha, a widow maid used to look after her. This song was written, initially in the form of a letter, with Nandini in the back of his mind and in the first line mentioned the name of Usha. NirmalKumari Mahalanabish too had accompanied Rabindranath in this tour to Europe. She had mentioned in her book 'Kobir Songe Europe' –
