about soumen roy chowdhury: An Engineer by profession, Soumen, has been gifted with a sense of different genre of music. Listening to good music and practising them was most favourite among his childhood fascinations. After browsing his options since an early stage & getting lot of encouragement & appreciations without having formal training till at his fifties, he started training under some great trainers during 2012-2014. Among his trainers Sri Jayanta Sarkar (Hindustani classical), Sri Goutam BaranAdhikari (Rabindrasangeet), Smt. Gopa Sanyal (Hindustani classical), Sri Arun Debnath are truly prominent figures of the subject. Soumen also had a brief period of online music training from the maestro Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty. Awards and Accolades: Got selected as graded artiste in All India Radio, Kolkata for RabindraSangeet in 2015 by giving audition. Got 1st prize and overall best singer trophy amongst all groups in Adhunik category (with his own music composition) in 73rd Murari Smriti Sangeet Sammelani of Chetla in 2013 October. Got prizes in Rabindra Sangeet & NazrulGeeti in Silver Jubilee Music competition of Taltala Bhatri Sangha in January 2014. Performed in Sur O Swar Music programme in R Plus Gold TV Channel in Kolkata. He has sung for Rourkela Ispat Television regularly during his stay in Rourkela during end eighties. Has performed in various informal stage programme in Noida, Delhi, Kanpur, Jhansi, Hyderabad, Warangal, Rourkela, Chennai & Kolkata. Got 1st Prize in music competition in Book Fare in Delhi PragatiMaidan. Got prize in NazrulGeeti in Urshashi, Salt Lake. Recently got selected in online music competition held by Sakha Cultural Society, Delhi for onward performance in various forums.
